Gai Suwen in The River of Silt. Gai Suwen was a general of the Tang Dynasty who rebelled at Liaodong. On the stage he wears a variegated make-up with large patches of blue, a general's helmet decked out with plumes and tail-like ornaments, and several pennants on the back. He has the appearance of a man who is steadfast and resolute.
